How are appointments scheduled?
The scheduled appointment time is reserved specifically for your child. We will always do our best to try to provide you with an appointment time that works for your child. Please note that we try to appoint younger children earlier in the day because they are at their best at this time. This can help ensure your child’s visit will be successful. Children of all ages requiring longer appointments may also be scheduled in the morning for the same reasons. Whenever possible, older children will be appointed outside of school hours. Please note that dental care is considered an excused absence from school.
We understand things happen and we are here to help. If you do need to reschedule, please call us by 12:00 pm on the day prior to your child’s appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.
Do I stay with my child during their dental visit?
We highly recommend that you stay with your child during the initial exam, recall exams, and emergency visits and guide them through their dental visit with us. If subsequent visits are necessary, we ask that you allow our staff to accompany your child through their restorative visits. This allows us to focus 100% of our attention on your child and allow your child to be focused on the movie they may be watching and on us. This creates an ideal environment to create a trusting relationship with your child. Remember a plan of care will be created for each child’s individualized needs! If the need arises and a parent needs to accompany their child into the restorative visit, we ask the parent to be a silent observer. This helps the doctor to focus all of her attention on your child.
Financial & Insurance Information
Southwoods Pediatric Dentistry is currently a participating provider with several insurance companies. We are more than happy to accept other insurance plans on an out of network provider basis. Coverage and participation cannot be guaranteed until insurance is verified. If we have received all of your insurance information prior to your scheduled appointment, we will be happy to file your claim. Please remember, we do not have a contract with your insurance plan, you do. Familiarize yourself with your benefits, as we will be collecting the estimated amount of insurance that your company is not expected to pay.
Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. Any services or balances not paid by the insurance company are your responsibility. Please note that every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan that gives your child the best possible care and will reflect your financial responsibility. It is important that you keep us informed of any changes in your insurance information. Payment options include: cash, personal checks, debit cards and most major credit cards.
