Southwoods Pediatric Dentistry Staff is trained to counsel parents and children about how nutrition and oral hygiene affects the mouth. We offer both services for FREE to all our patients during their regular visits.
The food our children consume can have adverse effects on their teeth and can have lasting impacts for longer than just childhood. We are happy to provide nutrition counseling to our patients and their parents at their appointment. Parents can ask questions about what foods are best to feed their children and our team can offer healthy alternatives to the food and snacks our patients like to eat daily. When you bring your child in for their next appointment, we will always review with you the snacks and drinks your child loves and complete a risk assessment and how these foods and drinks can affect your child’s teeth. We look forward to answering all your questions about nutrition counseling when your child visits our office!
Oral Hygiene Instruction
We also offer oral hygiene instruction upon every routine visit as well. The instructions include step-by-step directions for your child on how to most effectively brush his or her teeth every day, best flossing instructions, and which products to use for the finest oral hygiene. We look forward to sharing these things and being able to show you and your child how to keep their teeth and gums healthy and help instill positive lifelong habits in your child’s oral hygiene routine.
